About the Role

Excelon Associates is seeking an experienced International Director of Admissions on behalf of our client, a prestigious higher education institution in the United Kingdom. This role is responsible for leading and executing the institution’s international student recruitment strategy, ensuring the successful enrollment of a diverse and qualified global student body.

The International Director of Admissions will oversee international recruitment initiatives, partnerships, and engagement efforts while ensuring compliance with relevant immigration policies and regulatory frameworks. This position requires a dynamic leader with strong strategic planning abilities, data-driven decision-making skills, and a deep understanding of global higher education markets and student mobility trends.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Enrollment Planning

• Develop and implement a comprehensive international admissions strategy aligned with institutional goals, with a clear focus on recruitment growth, student retention, and diversity targets.
• Set annual enrollment targets by market and region, working with institutional leadership to align admissions strategy with broader academic and financial planning.

Global Recruitment and Outreach

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with international secondary schools, education agencies, governmental organizations, and community partners to drive qualified student applications.
• Lead international recruitment travel and represent the institution at higher education fairs, agent events, and embassy and government forums in priority markets.
• Develop and oversee country-specific recruitment strategies tailored to market conditions, student profile expectations, and competitive landscape analysis.

Application and Enrollment Management

• Oversee the evaluation and processing of international applications, ensuring adherence to institutional admissions standards and applicable immigration policies.
• Monitor application conversion rates across stages from inquiry through enrollment, identifying and addressing drop-off points in the funnel.
• Coordinate pre-arrival support for admitted international students including visa guidance, conditional offer management, and deposit confirmation.

Partnership Development

• Build and maintain strategic alliances with foreign institutions, scholarship providers, recruitment agencies, and pathway program providers to strengthen student pipelines.
• Negotiate and manage agent and partner agreements, monitoring performance against agreed enrollment targets and compliance expectations.

Data-Driven Decision Making

• Analyze enrollment trends, yield data, and market intelligence to refine recruitment strategies and optimize conversion rates across source markets.
• Produce regular enrollment reports and forecasts for senior institutional leadership, identifying risk and opportunity across the international student portfolio.

Compliance and Visa Support

• Ensure all admissions processes comply with UK Home Office student visa regulations, UKVI requirements, and relevant institutional sponsor duties.
• Work closely with the compliance and student services teams to maintain institutional sponsor status and ensure accurate record-keeping for all international students.

Team Leadership and Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of international admissions professionals, providing clear direction, performance oversight, and professional development support.
• Foster a high-performance, student-centered team culture aligned with institutional values and service standards.

Marketing and Branding

• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop culturally relevant campaigns, digital content, and print materials that resonate with prospective students in target regions.
• Contribute to the institution’s international brand positioning across social media, digital advertising, and key student search platforms.
