Director of Digital Transformation

Excelon Associates has been retained to support a confidential search for a Director of Digital Transformation. The Director leads the institution’s efforts to modernize academic and administrative operations, designing and implementing a campus-wide digital strategy that enhances agility, strengthens the student experience, and supports measurable institutional outcomes.

The Director partners with academic leadership, IT, enrollment, finance, and external vendors to ensure the institution remains competitive in a rapidly evolving higher education environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Create a comprehensive digital transformation roadmap aligned with institutional goals and academic priorities
• Evaluate current campus-wide systems and identify opportunities for workflow improvements and technology consolidation
• Lead adoption of new tools including AI-supported services, analytics platforms, and modern student information systems
• Partner with IT, enrollment, finance, and academic affairs to coordinate cross-functional technology initiatives
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and implementation timelines for major digital projects
• Build and lead a team of technology and change management professionals
• Communicate progress and outcomes to senior leadership, translating technical concepts into institutional impact

Education, Experience, and Skills

• Demonstrated success managing large-scale technology implementations across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools, LMS platforms, CRM, and ERP systems common in higher education
• Strong communication and change management skills with a track record of driving adoption across diverse institutional populations
