Position Overview

Professor, Blockchain Technology

Excelon Associates is proud to partner with a forward-thinking institution seeking a Professor of Blockchain Technology to develop and teach courses in blockchain, distributed ledger technology, smart contracts, and decentralized applications. This role suits an educator who combines real-world industry experience with a genuine passion for preparing students to work at the frontier of emerging technology.

The Professor will contribute to curriculum development, student mentorship, and applied research, helping the institution build a distinctive blockchain program that reflects the evolving demands of fintech, financial services, and technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in blockchain technology, distributed ledger systems, smart contracts, and decentralized finance
  • Design curriculum that bridges theoretical foundations with practical application, incorporating current industry tools and platforms
  • Mentor students on academic projects, career paths, and applied research in blockchain and emerging technology
  • Stay current with rapidly evolving developments in the blockchain and Web3 space and incorporate them into course design
  • Collaborate with industry partners and practitioners to enrich the program’s real-world relevance
  • Participate in departmental governance, faculty committees, and institutional service responsibilities
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills

EducationMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field; Doctorate preferred
Experience3+ years of industry experience in blockchain development, DeFi, or related emerging technology, or demonstrated academic experience in the field
EducationMaster’s required; Doctorate preferred. CS, IT, Finance, or related.
Experience3+ years industry or academic experience in blockchain or DLT
SkillsSmart contracts, DLT platforms, curriculum development, student mentorship
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Hyperledger, Solana, or equivalent
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for students at varying levels of technical background
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and student success in a rapidly evolving technical field
