Postgraduate Program Lead and Senior Lecturer
The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping a sustainable, equitable, and high-performing postgraduate portfolio. This is a dual-function appointment combining program leadership with active research-informed teaching and dissertation supervision — designed for an academic leader who brings both intellectual rigor and a genuine commitment to graduate student success.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership and Program Management
- Serve as Postgraduate Program Lead, with responsibility for curriculum integrity, academic standards, and continuous program enhancement.
- Lead validation, review, and reapproval processes for graduate programs in compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.
- Ensure alignment between postgraduate teaching, research activity, and institutional strategy.
- Coordinate academic teams, assessment strategies, moderation, and engagement with external examiners.
Teaching and Supervision
- Deliver high-quality, research-informed instruction across graduate-level modules in the relevant discipline.
- Supervise postgraduate dissertations, capstone projects, and applied research initiatives to the highest academic standards.
- Ensure assessment and feedback meet rigorous graduate academic requirements, providing developmental and constructive guidance to students.
- Support students transitioning into doctoral study, research careers, or advanced professional roles.
Research, Knowledge Exchange and Professional Practice
- Maintain an active and credible research profile appropriate to postgraduate leadership, including publication, grant activity, or equivalent professional outputs.
- Contribute to research income generation, partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaborative initiatives.
- Integrate research, innovation, and professional practice meaningfully into graduate curricula.
- Contribute to the School’s research culture through seminars, working groups, and scholarly engagement.
Student Experience and Recruitment
- Support postgraduate recruitment, applicant engagement, and conversion initiatives including open days and information events.
- Enhance the graduate student experience, supporting progression, retention, and overall satisfaction.
- Engage with alumni, employers, and professional organizations to strengthen program reputation and career outcomes for graduates.
- Champion student wellbeing and serve as a first point of contact for students navigating academic or professional challenges.
Academic Citizenship and External Engagement
- Participate in doctoral, research, and postgraduate committees as a senior academic voice.
- Represent graduate programs internally and externally at relevant forums and events.
- Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and academic integrity across all areas of postgraduate provision.
- Contribute to institutional initiatives and model the values and behaviors expected of a senior academic leader.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Doctorate (PhD or Professional Doctorate) in a relevant field — required for this role.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level within a higher education setting.
- Experience with postgraduate program leadership, module coordination, or dissertation supervision.
- Active research, scholarly, or advanced professional practice profile appropriate to graduate-level leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive postgraduate education and equitable supervision practice.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Senior Fellowship or equivalent recognition from a recognized higher education teaching body.
- Experience securing research funding, leading enterprise initiatives, or supervising doctoral candidates through to completion.
- Experience delivering international or transnational postgraduate programs across multiple delivery modes or locations.
- Track record of external partnership development linked to graduate employability or research collaboration.
