Online Career Services Coordinator – Remote Opportunity

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Must be based in IL, MS, MO, IA, TN, or MN)

Excelon Associates is conducting a search on behalf of a career-focused education provider seeking an Online Career Services Coordinator to support students and alumni in successfully transitioning into the workforce.

Please note: Candidates must be currently based in one of the following states: Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, Iowa, Tennessee, or Minnesota.

This individual will play a critical role in delivering career coaching, facilitating job placement, and developing employer partnerships aligned with program offerings. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about improving student outcomes through meaningful employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Student Placement & Career Support

  • Guide students and graduates through effective job search strategies and career planning
  • Provide hands-on support with resumes, cover letters, and job applications tailored to program-specific roles
  • Connect students to relevant job opportunities through job boards, employer networks, and direct outreach
  • Track placement activity and maintain accurate records of employment outcomes in alignment with accreditation and institutional standards

Career Readiness & Coaching

  • Deliver one-on-one career coaching to support goal setting and professional development
  • Conduct mock interviews and provide actionable feedback to improve candidate readiness
  • Lead workshops on job readiness topics including communication, professionalism, time management, and workplace expectations
  • Advise students on building a professional digital presence, including LinkedIn and online networking strategies
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with graduates to support retention and long-term career growth

Employer & Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national employers aligned with program offerings
  • Conduct proactive outreach to identify hiring needs and promote qualified graduates
  • Coordinate and participate in job fairs, hiring events, and virtual employer engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with employers to align workforce needs with graduate skillsets
  • Participate in advisory boards and industry engagement efforts to stay informed on hiring trends

Placement Strategy & Performance

  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve and exceed graduate employment targets (70% minimum, 80%+ goal)
  • Analyze placement data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide regular reporting on placement performance and outcomes to leadership
  • Adjust outreach and coaching strategies to improve placement success and student outcomes

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support broader career services initiatives and institutional priorities as needed
  • Contribute to a collaborative, student-centered culture focused on outcomes and accountability

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred (Career Services, Education, Human Resources, or related field)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in career services, job placement, employer relations, or student advising
  • Experience supporting online or distance education environments required
  • Background in healthcare, allied health, or vocational/technical education strongly preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals toward employment outcomes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and career platforms (LinkedIn, job boards, CRM systems)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort with business development, outreach, and relationship building
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information

Work Environment

  • Remote or hybrid work environment depending on institutional needs
  • Regular interaction via phone, email, and virtual platforms
  • Occasional travel for employer meetings, job fairs, or events
  • Flexibility to support evening programming or student needs as required
