Lecturer
This is a teaching-focused academic appointment well suited to an educator who brings instructional excellence, subject-matter depth, and a genuine investment in student success. The Lecturer will contribute to undergraduate and graduate provision, support program quality and student engagement, and engage meaningfully with the academic and professional community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality instruction across a range of modules and programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Lead modules as appropriate, including assessment design, grading, and moderation.
- Develop and implement innovative, inclusive, and engaging approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods including blended, digital, and flexible learning approaches suited to a diverse student body.
- Serve as an academic advisor or faculty mentor, supporting student engagement, progression, and wellbeing.
Assessment and Academic Quality
- Evaluate student work and provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback that supports learning and progression.
- Participate in assessment boards, moderation, and quality assurance processes at the module and program level.
- Support program leaders with administrative responsibilities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Curriculum Development and Scholarship
- Contribute to the design, review, and enhancement of modules and academic programs.
- Engage in scholarly activity and professional practice to inform teaching and curriculum innovation.
- Contribute to research, knowledge exchange, or industry engagement activities appropriate to the role and discipline.
Student Recruitment and Engagement
- Support recruitment and admissions activities including open houses, applicant events, and interviews.
- Contribute to student retention, progression, and achievement initiatives at the program level.
Collaboration and External Engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues across the School and institution on teaching, scholarship, and program delivery.
- Engage with employers, professional organizations, and external stakeholders to enhance curriculum relevance and student career outcomes.
- Contribute to outreach, community engagement, and partnership initiatives as appropriate to the discipline.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in School and institutional meetings, committees, and events.
- Engage in continuing professional development including instructional credentials and professional recognition.
- Work in accordance with institutional policies including equity, diversity, and inclusion; health and safety; and data protection.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Essential Experience and Education
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience teaching or supporting learning in higher education or a relevant professional setting.
- Ability to deliver engaging and inclusive instruction to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with assessment, grading, and providing constructive and developmental feedback.
- Strong administrative, technology, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build positive professional relationships with students and colleagues.
Desirable Experience and Education
- Doctorate or demonstrated progress toward a doctorate in a relevant field.
- Fellowship in a recognized higher education teaching body, or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.
- Experience serving as a module or course lead.
- Experience supervising or mentoring students in an academic or professional context.
- Experience developing new courses or implementing innovative instructional approaches.
- Experience teaching using blended, online, or distance learning modalities.
