Associate Dean of Nursing
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
- Provide guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students across on-ground and online program delivery.
- Oversee program development, planning, implementation, evaluation, and accreditation activities.
- Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the nursing program.
- Ensure adherence to institutional regulations, policies, and the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain compliance with programmatic and institutional accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with the Dean on long-term strategic planning for the nursing program.
Academic and Program Oversight
- Monitor trends in nursing practice, education, and research to keep program content current and competitive.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with clinical sites, community organizations, and academic partners.
- Attend required meetings and serve on institutional and program committees.
- Support curriculum development and contribute to ongoing instructional effectiveness initiatives.
Professional Engagement
- Participate in scholarship activities including research, writing, peer review, committee service, and leading professional initiatives — contributions that factor into performance evaluation and promotion decisions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet program and institutional needs.
Required and Additional Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the province of New Brunswick.
- Master’s or PhD in Nursing, preferably with a focus in nursing administration or nursing education.
- Training or experience in teaching and learning principles, curriculum development, accreditation, and academic administration.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years as a nurse educator or administrator.
- Strong professionalism and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate mastery of theory and practice within the nursing discipline.
- Compliance with all regulatory and academic credential requirements.
Preferred and Personal Attributes
- Collaborative work style with strong time-management and prioritization abilities.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, with at least two years preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, observational, and communication abilities across diverse audiences.
- Patient, empathetic approach to supporting students while maintaining high academic standards.
