Responsibilities:
Our client is seeking a System Medical Director for Occupational Health and Employee Health Services. This provider will support the strategic vision and direction of Occupational Health and Employee Health Services for the hospital. The physician will provide clinical leadership for system Occupational Health & Worker’s Compensation matters and offer subject matter expertise as well as clinical oversight of Occupational Claims for Workers Compensation. Additionally, this individual will serve as the System Medical Director for enterprise Occupational Claims, including fiscal oversight.
Highlights:
- The System Medical Director, Occupational Health collaborates with the dyad partner to support the strategic vision and direction of Occupational Health and Employee Health Services for the system.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while promoting equity in access and treatment.
- Providing clinical leadership for system Occupational Health & Worker’s Compensation matters and serving as the System Medical Director for enterprise Occupational Claims, including fiscal oversight.
- Acting as the medical subject matter expert in Worker’s Compensation matters, working closely with attorneys, insurers, and third-party administrators.
- Partnering with various internal stakeholders to ensure a systematic approach to employee and occupational health care.
Essential Functions:
- The System Medical Director, Occupational Health is responsible for the quality of medical care delivered in the hospital’s Employee Health and Occupational Medicine practices.
- Delivering clinical care to employees, particularly in complex cases, and resolving patient-related issues requiring medical expertise.
- Collaborating in the development and implementation of policies promoting employee wellness, infectious disease mitigation, and general employee safety.
- Supporting the Epidemiology, Infection Control & Prevention (EICP) Department in controlling outbreaks and employee exposure to infections.
- The System Medical Director, Occupational Health supervises physicians and advanced practice providers in Employee Health and Occupational Medicine practices, overseeing recruitment, retention, and professional growth.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the employee experience and ensuring program compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policy.
- Developing and maintaining clinical policies and practices and supporting the Worker Safety program.
- Conducting analyses on the quality of Occupational Health and Employee Health Services programs and ensuring corrective actions where needed.
- Serving as a clinical resource and consultant in Occupational Health to other departments and client companies.
- Participating in various committees and supporting safety and OSHA investigations.
Qualifications:
- Occupational medicine certification.
- Current, unrestricted medical license and good standing with the Medical Staff and THMG.
- Commitment to ongoing physician education related to management training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The System Medical Director, Occupational Health must possess knowledge of the PA workers compensation system, DOH regulations, and PA Act 148.
- Understanding of OSHA, ADA, FMLA, and GINA legislative frameworks.
- OSHA and MRO certification.
- Strong knowledge of workers compensation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong education and teaching skills.
Physical Demand:
- Ability to meet specific physical requirements, including sitting, reaching, lifting, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, and walking.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Potential exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
- Moderate physical activity, including handling objects up to 25 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day.
- Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations requiring safety precautions and protective equipment.
- Work with blood or blood-borne pathogens, requiring OSHA training.
Skills and Certifications:
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Occupational Medicine
- Comfortable/Experience working in a matrix organization
