Excelon Associates is recruiting an Alumni & Fundraising Manager on behalf of a globally oriented higher education institution with an extensive and diverse alumni community spanning more than 100 countries. Lifelong alumni engagement, community impact, and strong professional networks are central to the institution’s long-term strategy.
The Alumni & Fundraising Manager plays a critical role in strengthening relationships with graduates, partners, donors, and supporters; identifying and developing philanthropic opportunities; and driving engagement initiatives that enhance institutional reputation and strategic outcomes.
This role is central to shaping international alumni chapters, building corporate and community partnerships, expanding fundraising activities, and delivering meaningful engagement experiences. The successful candidate will lead alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives that build long-term affinity, advocacy, and financial support for institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Advancement & Fundraising
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies aligned with institutional priorities.
- Identify trusts, foundations, corporate social responsibility programs, and grant-making bodies for funding opportunities.
- Manage funding applications from prospect research through proposal submission and reporting.
- Lead micro-fundraising and crowdfunding campaigns for targeted initiatives.
- Steward relationships with individual donors, alumni supporters, and corporate sponsors.
- Collaborate with alumni and partners to develop sponsorship opportunities and joint initiatives.
- Build pipelines for in-kind contributions such as mentorship, guest speaking, internships, and volunteering.
Alumni Engagement & Community Building
- Strengthen engagement across the alumni lifecycle through targeted campaigns, activities, and communications.
- Develop and manage alumni ambassador and volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, and ongoing support.
- Create initiatives to engage final-year students and encourage continued involvement after graduation.
- Support the development and promotion of alumni benefits, discounts, postgraduate pathways, and recognition programs.
- Identify alumni for inclusion in publications, marketing materials, and institutional showcases.
Alumni Chapters & Interest Groups
- Lead the development and ongoing management of alumni chapters globally.
- Partner with chapter committees to plan events, communications, and community-building activities.
- Produce toolkits and resources to support sustainable chapter and interest-group operations.
- Oversee chapter-related digital platforms and social media presence.
- Coordinate with recruitment teams to support student recruitment and outreach through alumni engagement.
Events, Communications & Campaigns
- Plan and deliver alumni events including virtual and in-person gatherings, reunions, talks, networking sessions, and celebrations.
- Manage alumni communications such as newsletters, social media, event invitations, and digital content.
- Collaborate on alumni publications and digital storytelling initiatives.
- Commission and manage design, print, and digital assets as required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, data protection, and institutional policies.
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong internal relationships across academic units, professional services, and senior leadership.
- Engage external stakeholders including employers, community leaders, government entities, and donors.
- Negotiate support and collaboration for alumni and fundraising initiatives across internal and external partners.
Budget & Project Management
- Manage budgets for alumni events, campaigns, and fundraising activities.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with objectives.
- Maintain accurate records and track engagement metrics and fundraising performance.
- Produce regular reports and insights to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
General Responsibilities
- Support broader advancement, external relations, and institutional initiatives as required.
- Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and international travel, as needed.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience managing alumni groups, volunteers, ambassadors, or community networks.
- Strong event management experience, ideally within a large or complex organization.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, and solve problems creatively.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in alumni relations, fundraising, marketing, or communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication, influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and lead cross-functional projects.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel domestically or internationally.
- Knowledge of data protection, confidentiality, and CRM systems used in alumni or donor management.
- Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive engagement.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience within higher education, advancement, or alumni relations.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, sponsorship development, or donor stewardship.
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar systems.
- Budget management experience.
