Registrar – Miami, FL (Confidential Search) 

The Registrar provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for academic administration and student lifecycle services across the institution.

This role is responsible for academic policies and regulations, student records, enrollment services, grading and assessment processes, academic scheduling, degree conferral, and academic governance.

The Registrar ensures that academic and student services are efficient, compliant, student-centered, and data-driven, supporting institutional strategy, regulatory obligations, and a high-quality student experience.

Key Responsibilities: 
Strategic Leadership & Academic Governance

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Office of the Registrar and academic administration functions across the institution.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on academic policies, regulations, governance, and student-related matters.
  • Ensure academic policies and procedures are current, effective, and consistently applied.
  • Support senior academic leadership and institutional governance committees as required.

Student Lifecycle & Academic Administration

  • Lead all administrative functions related to the student lifecycle, including admissions support, enrollment, student records, academic progress, grading, degree audits, and credentialing.
  • Ensure effective administration of grading, assessment, and examination processes in collaboration with academic leadership.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate release of grades, degree conferral, diplomas, and official transcripts.
  • Manage academic scheduling and course timetable processes.
  • Oversee administrative support for graduate and doctoral students, including progression tracking, assessments, and degree completion.

Data, Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of student and academic data.
  • Oversee federal, state, accreditor, and internal reporting requirements using accurate and timely data.
  • Provide analytics and management reporting to support institutional planning and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, accreditation, and institutional regulatory requirements.

Partnerships & Collaborative Programs

  • Oversee student administration for partner-delivered and collaborative academic programs.
  • Ensure enrollment, grading, credentialing, and compliance processes align with partnership agreements.
  • Coordinate academic records and degree processes for students enrolled in joint or partner programs.

People & Resource Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop senior academic administration staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources in alignment with institutional financial policies.

Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and contribute to operational transformation and process improvement initiatives aligned with institutional strategy.
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups and project teams.
  • Drive innovation in academic services through technology adoption, system optimization, and process redesign.

Representation & Professional Engagement

  • Represent the institution internally and externally at a senior level.
  • Engage with relevant professional associations and networks to ensure best practices are incorporated into institutional operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience: 

Education – Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or other postgraduate credential in higher education administration, operations, law, or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization (e.g., AACRAO or equivalent).

Experience & Knowledge
Required

  • Significant senior leadership experience within a complex organization, preferably in higher education or another highly regulated environment.
  • Extensive experience overseeing academic administration or student services functions.
  • Strong knowledge of academic governance, institutional policies, accreditation, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and operational improvement.
  • Experience managing senior staff and complex service portfolios.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and high-risk matters with professionalism.
  • Strong record of collaboration across academic and administrative units.

Preferred

  • Experience working in multi-campus or international academic environments.
  • Experience supporting partner institutions or collaborative academic programs.
