Primary Care Physician – Avon Park, FL

The Primary Care Physician is responsible for delivering comprehensive primary care services to a diverse patient population. This encompasses preventive and health maintenance services, management of acute and chronic conditions, clinical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments.

Additionally, the role involves primary care consultation to clinical staff and external specialists treating patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of Residency in Family Medicine.
  • Certification: Board Eligible/Certified in Family Practice.
  • Licensure: Valid Florida Medical License.
  • Other Requirements: DEA Certification, malpractice insurability, medical staff privileges at designated hospitals, BLS certification, computer literacy.


  • Adherence to philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures, including state and federal regulations.
  • Use of disease management protocols and clinical pathways to enhance care quality.
  • Participation in approved healthcare programs, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives.
  • Timely completion of all documentation and compliance with Exposure Control Plan.
  • Coordination of patient referrals and participation in outreach and off-site healthcare programs.
  • Medical education and support to ARNPs, including precepting medical students.
  • Participation in the review and development of primary care protocols and patient education materials.
  • Compliance with reimbursement arrangements and maintenance of up-to-date patient records.
  • Accurate coding for billing, rotating to other centers as needed, and providing off-hours coverage.
  • Leadership and support to medical support staff and active participation in meetings and peer review activities.
  • Involvement in the recruitment of physicians and clinical staff and advising on clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintenance of professional appearance and adherence to sterile techniques in surgical procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Predominantly standing/walking.
  • Must be independently mobile and capable of lifting weights equivalent to patient assistance, equipment repositioning, and supply handling.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads, patient acuity, sites, and shifts.
