Marketing Communications Manager – Palo Alto, CA
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of experience, preferably with a work history in-house at a fast-growing startup or fund
- Proven experience working with the press and a portfolio of story placements across national, technology, and business news outlets
- Expertise in the expanding nature of communications work beyond media relations, from thought leadership to social media, paid placements, and other visibility programs
- An ability to make otherwise complicated topics super easy-to-understand
- Excellent writing and editing skills; you instinctively tailor your voice to different audiences, from investor communications to consumer social media
- Curiosity and command of data and how it can be used to uncover insights that advance company narratives
- An ownership mindset, and the ability to work creatively and autonomously in a fast-changing environment
Responsibilities
- Define the purpose and value of communications internally, shaping core narratives, and setting the comms objectives
- Partner with the CEO and senior executives across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Finance, to develop formative company messaging and tell stories that advance top-level company goals
- Develop and facilitate strong relationships with key national, consumer, tech, and business reporters
- Build mainstream awareness of important business and fund milestones, the mission and brand, consumer and B2B product offerings, and other work among the greater tech, startup, and investor communities
- Create media engagement and content development strategies that (1) promote product initiatives, and (2) advance the reputation as a differentiated and uniquely well-positioned company across the entire early-stage venture market.
