Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician – Avon Park, FL

Position Summary:
Offer comprehensive outpatient adult primary care services, including preventive and health maintenance services, acute and chronic care, clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Provide primary care consultation services to clinical staff and outside specialists. Facilitate hospital referrals to local hospitalists and monitor patient care post-discharge.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Residency trained Physician.
  • Certification: Board Eligible / Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Licensure: Active Florida License.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • DEA Certificate.
    • Malpractice Insurability.
    • Medical staff privileges at designated hospitals.
    • BLS certification.
    • Proficiency in computer use.

Responsibilities and Performance Expectations:

  • Understand and adhere to program philosophies, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal regulations.
  • Follow disease management protocols and clinical pathways to improve clinical performance. Participate in approved health care programs and ensure compliance with clinical measures.
  • Complete all required documentation promptly, including paperwork related to payroll, patient encounters, evaluations, and electronic health records.
  • Comply with the Exposure Control Plan and utilize universal precautions.
  • Coordinate necessary patient referrals for services not offered directly, in line with policy.
  • Engage in community representation and participate in off-site health care programs as requested.
  • Mentor Medical Students and assist ARNPs according to approved protocols.
  • Ensure duties, responsibilities, and competencies are performed in a manner appropriate to the patient age group served.
  • Collaborate on the review and development of primary care protocols and patient education materials.
  • Manage patient records, coding, and billing information accurately and timely.
  • Provide coverage at other centers as needed and participate in off-hours and Saturday clinic rotations.
  • Lead and support medical staff, maintaining a professional appearance and following surgical procedures with sterile techniques.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and participate in peer review activities.
  • Assist in physician and clinical staff recruitment and make recommendations on clinical supplies and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily standing/walking (80% or more of the time).
  • Must be independently mobile.
  • Capable of lifting weights equivalent to patient assistance, equipment repositioning, and supply handling.
  • Adapt to varying workloads, patient acuity, sites, and shifts.
