Business Development Manager – Remote Opportunity
The Business Development Manager will play an integral role in driving growth and expanding market presence within the skilled trades industry. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, this position focuses on strategic market development, partnership building, and revenue generation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in business development, project management, and relationship-building, with the ability to identify new opportunities and successfully execute growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities for growth in the skilled trades education and training sector.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to identify areas for innovation and expansion.
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to increase market share within U.S. domestic markets.
- Prepare compelling, tailored proposals and presentations that address client needs and objectives.
- Identify and evaluate alternative growth opportunities and potential partnerships within skilled trade workforce development.
Client & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders throughout the business development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Accounting, Marketing, and Operations—to ensure seamless project execution.
- Act as a trusted partner to clients, offering strategic insights and tailored solutions to meet evolving workforce needs.
- Support senior leadership in developing partnerships, managing high-value negotiations, and closing deals.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage business development projects involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
- Coordinate with internal teams to review, prepare, and deliver project business cases for leadership approval.
- Provide strategic business development support to the Vice President of Client Solutions.
- Ensure proper alignment across departments and project stakeholders for successful implementation of initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Economics, Business, or related field); equivalent experience considered.
- Five to seven years of progressive experience in business development, preferably within the skilled trades or workforce development sectors.
Experience & Skills
- Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience developing strategic plans, crafting proposals, and leading high-value negotiations.
- Solid understanding of legal and contractual concepts to support the negotiation of business agreements.
- Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly absorb complex information and communicate it effectively to clients and partners.
- Demonstrated success in cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with executives, decision-makers, and strategic partners.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and overcome business challenges.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a positive attitude and drive to develop new opportunities.
- Familiarity with skilled trades such as welding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/R, and sustainable practices is highly desirable.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
