Our client is an early-stage venture capital firm located in Palo Alto, managing over $1B in assets. They are supported by some of Asia’s leading multinationals, including Hyundai, LG, Foxconn, Japan Airlines, and more. Their mission focuses on partnering with entrepreneurs to enhance value by connecting them with their extensive network of Asian partners, serving as customers, channel partners, R&D collaborators, or suppliers.

The firm primarily invests from the seed to Series B stage, with a particular focus on leading or co-leading Series A rounds. Their initial investment size typically ranges from $1M to $10M. Being industry-agnostic, they have made investments across various sectors, including AI, cloud technology, education, healthcare, mobility, and sustainability.

Founded in 2007, they are currently investing through their latest flagship, Fund V. Their headquarters is in Silicon Valley, with additional offices in Beijing, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Tokyo.

Opportunity
The venture investment team of our client is seeking to recruit an ambitious and energetic individual. The selected candidate will work closely with all team members as well as strategic partners in Asia. This role offers significant responsibilities, including involvement in the full spectrum of venture capital activities such as sourcing, due diligence, portfolio management, and fundraising. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous venture capital experience to enhance their skills, or for those new to the field to gain comprehensive industry knowledge.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify and source emerging investment opportunities by developing personal investment theses.
  • Utilize the firm’s platform to expand personal networks within the startup community.
  • Lead due diligence processes and become a subject matter expert in designated coverage areas.
  • Prepare investment memos to support investment decisions.
  • Assist and collaborate with portfolio companies on strategic and operational projects.
  • Engage and cooperate with corporate LPs on innovation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the startup/investor community through thought leadership activities, such as writing blog posts, attending conferences, and hosting social events.

Core Qualifications

  • Self-driven with a high level of initiative, seeking individuals who are motivated and capable of driving significant impact within the firm.
  • A strong passion for technology and investing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships with entrepreneurs and investors across diverse backgrounds.
  • A positive outlook, team-oriented spirit, and the ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience, with a broad interpretation of “relevant,” including backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, corporate development, business operations, product management, or engineering.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in investing.
  • A technical background in fields such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics.
  • A robust network in the startup ecosystem.
  • Conversational fluency in Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese.

Location
The position is based in Palo Alto, California, under a hybrid work model, with Mondays required in the office but flexibility on other days.
