What You’ll Do:
The Assistant Dean of Nursing (ADON), reporting to the Dean of Nursing, is responsible for clinical oversight, faculty support, and core nursing student support at their campus. They collaborate with the campus leadership team to guide decision-making and ensure alignment with the institution’s vision and values.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean of Nursing may be assigned one or more of the following responsibilities based on the campus’s size and needs:

  • Oversee Clinical Instruction:
    • Foster and maintain academic-practice partnerships with clinical partners.
    • Conduct site evaluations to ensure clinical facilities align with the curriculum.
    • Collaborate with the Nursing Lab Manager to plan skills and lab experiences.
    • Manage Clinical Coordinators to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Faculty Support:
    • Lead workshops to develop faculty teaching skills.
    • Review and evaluate the delivery of the core nursing curriculum.
    • Develop relationships with new faculty and provide resources for their success.
  • Student Support for Core Nursing Students:
    • Address student concerns, complaints, and disciplinary issues.
    • Promote an environment of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Advise students, facilitate communication, and maintain relationships between students and faculty.
    • Sponsor student associations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Scholarship in Areas of Responsibility:
    • Lead curriculum delivery, set strategic goals, and ensure alignment with institutional objectives.
    • Regularly interact with students, promoting a student-centered approach.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliant delivery of the clinical curriculum.
    • Maintain compliant records, including faculty files and student records.
    • Serve as Program Administrator as needed.

What We Need From You:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Must Have:
    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited institution.
    • Three or more years of experience as a professional registered nurse providing direct patient care.
    • Three or more years of full-time teaching experience in a registered nursing program at a college or university.
    • Current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license in the state where students are located or a qualifying consortium state.
  • Nice to Have:
    • Earned doctorate (EdD, PhD, or DNP) from an accredited institution.
    • Evidence of progressive leadership experience, including supervisory experience and prior experience with instruction, curriculum, and academic programs.
    • Certified Nurse Educator certification and national certification in a nursing specialty.
