Reports to: RVP N Asia
The Director, Business Development of China will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, growth, and management of business development efforts in China. This role will align business objectives with revenue goals, ensuring operational excellence and a customer-first approach. The Director will oversee a team, driving growth by developing and executing initiatives that expand market presence, build strong customer relationships, and capture new business opportunities. The role will be essential in increasing sales and penetrating new markets. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in China, evaluating market trends to expand the company’s footprint.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients and partners, negotiating contracts and securing major deals.
- Coordinate reseller and agent activities, providing necessary training and support.
- Create and execute a business development strategy to achieve revenue and market share growth.
- Oversee regional team performance, providing coaching and strategic guidance.
- Maintain CRM for accurate sales forecasting and reporting.
- Collaborate with senior teams to set and meet quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Negotiate agreements and collaborate with partner schools on academic programs, marketing, and registrations.
- Conduct virtual and in-person sessions with students and parents, and support student progress.
- Visit partner schools regularly to ensure satisfaction with programs.
- Engage in community-building activities and monitor competitor activities to adjust strategies.
- Identify areas for improvement and collaborate across teams to address issues.
- Support the sales team in generating leads and closing deals, ensuring targets are exceeded.
- Work with product, marketing, and operations teams to align strategies and improve offerings.
- Manage the region’s sales budget, providing regular updates and forecasts to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; US university preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
- Fluent in Mandarin; resides in China.
- Proven experience in business development or sales in China.
- Strong knowledge of online K-12 education programs, international curriculum models, and global university admissions processes.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- Experience with CRM tools and sales forecasting.
- Ability to create and execute strategies for revenue and market growth.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience managing teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage sales budgets and report to leadership.
