Dean of the College of Rehabilitative Sciences – Dallas, TX
The Dean of the College of Rehabilitative Sciences provides strategic leadership and oversight of academic programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology across a multi-campus environment. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the Dean collaborates with program leadership, student affairs, enrollment, accreditation, and operational teams to ensure the development and delivery of high-quality, outcomes-driven educational experiences.
This role is critical to advancing academic excellence, interdisciplinary coordination, meaningful clinical experiences, and effective teaching and learning strategies.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Direction & Growth
- Partner with program leadership to allocate resources, hire and develop faculty, meet accreditation requirements, and recruit students.
- Drive academic excellence and student success by establishing strategic initiatives and clear performance metrics.
- Identify and implement program expansion opportunities that align with institutional mission and respond to healthcare workforce demands.
- Lead the development and launch of new programs in collaboration with marketing, recruitment, and operational teams.
- Set and guide a research agenda that supports academic growth and faculty/student engagement.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work with academic leadership across colleges and programs to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities and dual credentialing initiatives.
- Promote innovation in teaching methodologies and leverage emerging technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
Academic Quality & Accreditation
- Cultivate a culture of academic excellence, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Collaborate with accreditation and program leaders to maintain institutional and programmatic accreditation and meet reporting requirements.
- Oversee academic policy development, manage student complaints and appeals, and ensure continuous improvement through data-informed decision making.
- Evaluate curriculum for relevance, quality, and alignment with market needs.
External Partnerships & Institutional Visibility
- Strengthen partnerships with clinical affiliates, industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, alumni, and feeder schools.
- Enhance the institution’s reputation and visibility within professional and academic communities.
- Expand opportunities for practical experiences and post-graduation employment for students.
Operational and Financial Oversight
- Lead budget development and management for the College, including revenue targets and contingency planning.
- Ensure financial sustainability and growth through effective resource allocation and operational efficiency.
- Implement consistent procedures that support accreditation and quality standards.
- Develop faculty workload models that align with institutional priorities and operational demands.
Organizational Reporting
- Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
- Supervises: Senior academic leadership across the disciplines of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology.
QualificationsRequired Skills and Attributes
- Demonstrated success in higher education administration, particularly in managing rehabilitative sciences programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.

Education and Experience
- 7–10 years of progressive academic leadership in higher education.
- Earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc, or equivalent).
- Professional background in a health sciences discipline.
- Experience developing and scaling academic programs.
- In-depth knowledge of discipline-specific accreditation standards and processes.
Licensure and Certification
- Current clinical certification in a rehabilitative sciences discipline required.
- Eligible for licensure in the applicable state(s).
Additional Information
- Travel Requirement: Approximately 25–30% travel to campus locations across the United States.
- Work Environment: Primarily office-based with extended periods working at a computer. Physical demands include standard office activities such as standing, walking, and communicating.
